Owls The match was fished over five sections with the Owls winning four out of the five, these anglers being... Alan Wild, Martin Kershaw, Dirk Williams and Wilf Griffin. Our long journey to the midlands had not been in vain and it was a group of happy but tired anglers that looked forward to the second leg. Owls We had three out of five section wins with Alan Wild, Martin Kershaw and Keith Buckley leading the way, with good back up points from the other team members. After this result we now felt we had a real chance of winning the trophy when we would travel to deepest darkest Yorkshire for the third and final leg. We would like to thank Brian Martin the fishery manager and David Berry the fishery owner for all the help they gave us in organising the home leg and also to my mum Jean Harrison and my wife Sue for providing a really great buffet on the day and not least to our beloved Mr. Micek for providing the transport to get the butties to the fishery, after 5 hours fishing we were ready for them. Woodlands Lakes, Thirsk and the last leg. After an early start to get to the venue, (one of our members Dirk Williams left his home in Rugby at 5.00 a.m.), the Owls arrived in great spirit. Due to ill health one of the lads had been forced to drop out but our Captain Martin Kershaw had arranged his replacement in the shape of Stephan Gent a current England International. On the day the match was a close run thing, the result being..................................

Yorkshire Tykes "A" Alan Wild again won his section which meant he had finished top in all three matches. The rest of the team all fished well, Art Walton caught 62lb 4oz of fish and still only finished 2nd in his section. After the match when we all retired to the cafe for a well earned cup of tea and a jam butty (no, I am only joking, the buffet provided by Andrew Archer and the Yorkshire lads was fantastic) we got the overall final result.
